Photographs for the stories you’ll love telling, and a visual legacy to pass down. Based in New England, traveling worldwide.

New York Bridal Fashion Week (NYBFW) is one of the most influential moments in the wedding and fashion industries. Twice a year, designers, editors, buyers, planners, photographers, and creatives from around the world descend on New York City to preview upcoming bridal collections and experience the artistry shaping the future of wedding fashion.

As a wedding photographer who has had the opportunity to photograph New York Bridal Fashion Week, I’ve witnessed firsthand how electric, overwhelming, inspiring, and beautifully chaotic it can be. Especially if it’s your first time. From runway presentations to private showroom appointments, NYBFW is so much more than gowns walking down a catwalk.

What Is New York Bridal Fashion Week?

New York Bridal Fashion Week is a biannual event where top international bridal designers debut their newest collections. NYBFW is appointment-based and spread across multiple locations throughout New York City, including hotels, design studios, lofts, and private showrooms.

Rather than one central venue, Bridal Week unfolds across Manhattan, with presentations happening simultaneously throughout the city. This makes planning essential, especially if you want to attend multiple shows or capture behind-the-scenes moments.

Designers I Photographed During New York Bridal Fashion Week

Photographing NYBFW has allowed me to work alongside and document some of the most iconic bridal designers in the world. Each collection carries its own energy, aesthetic, and design language and being behind the camera during these moments is incredibly special.

One Fine Day Bridal Market

One Fine Day Bridal Market is a key part of New York Bridal Fashion Week, bringing together a curated mix of bridal designers under one roof. It offers an intimate, appointment-based setting where buyers and creatives can experience collections up close and connect directly with the designers. For anyone attending NYBFW for the first time, One Fine Day is an invaluable introduction to the breadth of modern bridal fashion.

Hera Couture

Known for modern silhouettes and understated elegance, Hera Couture consistently blends structure with softness. Their designs feel effortless yet elevated, perfect for brides drawn to clean lines and intentional details.

SENSTUDIO

SENSTUDIO offers a refined, modern approach to bridal, rooted in clean lines and sculptural silhouettes. The collection feels architectural and intentional, designed for brides drawn to understated elegance and contemporary design. Shooting film during Fashion Week can be a fun challenge, and if you’re a film photographer, I highly encourage trying it during runway shows you may be pleasantly surprised by the magic you create.

Elie Saab Bridal

Elie Saab bridal collections are synonymous with luxury. Think intricate embroidery, romantic volume, and couture-level craftsmanship. Photographing these gowns feels like capturing wearable art, every detail is deliberate and breathtaking.

Blanc de Perez

Blanc de Perez brings a fashion-forward edge to bridal. Sculptural shapes, bold textures, and unexpected design choices make their collections stand out while still feeling timeless.

House of Savin

Romantic, feminine, and beautifully detailed, House of Savin designs often feel whimsical yet refined. Their gowns photograph beautifully in motion, with soft fabrics and thoughtful embellishments.

Nicole + Felicia

One of the most recognizable names in modern bridal fashion, Nicole and Felicia deliver drama in the best way. Statement gowns, architectural silhouettes, and impeccable construction define their runway moments.

Yumi Katsura

A true pioneer in bridal fashion, Yumi Katsura collections honor tradition while pushing boundaries. Photographing their gowns is witnessing history meeting innovation.

Galia Lahav

Galia Lahav is synonymous with bold femininity and unapologetic glamour. Each collection tells a powerful story, blending sensuality with couture craftsmanship.

Atelier Beccar

Minimal yet deeply intentional, Atelier Beccar focuses on fabric, movement, and modern bridal expression. Their designs feel editorial, elevated, and quietly powerful.

What It’s Like Behind the Scenes at NY Bridal Fashion Week

Behind the runway is a world most people never see.

There’s controlled chaos. Designers steaming gowns, models stepping in and out of dresses, stylists making last-minute adjustments, publicists coordinating entrances, and photographers moving carefully to capture the moment without disrupting it.

Timing is everything. Lighting changes quickly. Presentations can be intimate or theatrical. You learn fast how to read a room, anticipate movement, and document details that matter. The texture of fabric, the way a gown catches light, the emotion of a designer watching their work come to life.

How to Navigate New York Bridal Fashion Week (Especially If It’s Your First Time)

If you’ve never attended New York Bridal Fashion Week, here’s what you should know before stepping into it.

1. Study the Schedule in Advance

NYBFW schedules are dense and overlapping. Shows, presentations, and showroom appointments often happen simultaneously across Manhattan. Mapping your route and allowing travel time between locations is essential.

2. Understand the Role of One Fine Day

One Fine Day Bridal Market plays a major role during Bridal Fashion Week. It serves as a hub for designers, buyers, and creatives, offering a centralized space for appointments and presentations. If you’re new to NYBFW, One Fine Day is often one of the best entry points.

3. Appointments Matter

Many designers require invitations or scheduled appointments. Unlike traditional fashion week, you can’t simply walk into every show. Networking and relationship-building are key.

4. Dress for Movement, Not Just Style

New York Bridal Fashion Week means walking a lot. Between subway rides, city blocks, and standing during presentations, comfort matters just as much as looking polished.

5. Be Present, Not Perfect

It’s easy to feel behind or overwhelmed at NYBFW, especially surrounded by industry leaders. Remember: everyone started somewhere. Focus on learning, observing, and building genuine connections.

Why New York Bridal Fashion Week Matters

NYBFW isn’t just about trends, it’s about where bridal fashion is headed. Designers debut collections that will influence wedding style for years to come. For photographers, planners, and creatives, Bridal Fashion Week in New York offers inspiration, education, and a deeper understanding of the artistry behind the gowns couples ultimately wear on their wedding day.

Photographing New York Bridal Fashion Week has been one of the most creatively fulfilling experiences of my career, not just because of the designers, but because of the stories unfolding quietly behind the scenes.

Final Thoughts on New York Bridal Fashion Week

Whether you’re a bride researching designers, a creative considering attending Bridal Fashion Week for the first time, or someone curious about what happens behind the scenes NYBFW is layered, inspiring, and deeply human.

It’s where fashion meets emotion.
Where craftsmanship meets storytelling.
And where New York City becomes the backdrop for bridal history in the making.
